O que não se diz.

Aqui podem ver um vídeo, onde um investigador iraquiano interroga um terrorista capturado (Abed). Um excerto do interrogatório:


Investigator: What organization do you belong to? (a que organização pertences?)


Abed: Ansar Al-Islam.


Investigator: What organization is this? (que organização é essa?)


Abed: It is Bin-Laden's group. (...é um grupo de Bin Laden)

Investigator: What was the goal of bombing the Turkish embassy or the Red Cross? (qual era o objectivo do ataque à embaixada turca ou à Cruz Vermelha?)


Abed: In bombing the Turkish embassy we wanted to cause a problem between the Turkmens and the Kurds. (... queriamos causar problemas entre os turcos e os curdos)


(Sobre a violação de mulheres)

Investigator: Is this Jihad - raping women? Is this Jihad? (é isto a Jihad? violar mulheres?)


Abed: It is because they collaborated with the Americans. (é, porque elas colaboraram com os americanos)

Investigator: That's why they were raped? (é por isso que foram violadas?)


Abed: Yes. (sim)


Investigator: A student, who is simply going to her university, is kidnapped, raped, and then slaughtered?! This was an American collaborator?! (uma estudante, que está a caminho da universidade, é raptada, e depois assassinada?! É uma colaboradora americana?)


Abed: Mullah Al-Raikan would give the names to the squad commander. ( O Mullah Al-Raikan dava o nome das mulheres ao líder do grupo)


Investigator: My information says that they were kidnapped and brought to Mullah Al-Raikan's headquarters. True or false? (tenho conhecimento que as mulheres eram raptadas e levadas até ao Mullah Al-Raikan)


Abed: He would interrogate them. (ele interrogava-as)


Investigator: Were they raped after the interrogation? (elas eram violadas depois do interrogatório?)


Abed: Yes. He would give them to the squad, and they would kill them. Some would rape them. (sim. ele oferecia-as ao grupo e depois eram assassinadas. alguns violavam-nas)

Abed: (...) I never believed Shiites could show such respect and care. We were taught by people like Mullah Al-Raikan that Shi'a is not Islam. (nunca acreditei que os xiitas mostrassem tanto respeito e preocupação. somos ensinados por pessoas como o Mullah Al-Raikan que os xiitas não são muçulmanos.)


Investigator: You mean we show you respect and you slaughter us? (queres dizer, nós mostramos respeito e vocês matam-nos?)


Abed: Yes. Mullah Al-Raikan thinks so, and he said so more than once. (sim. o Mullah Al-Raikan pensa assim e disse-o mais de uma vez)

Investigator: That's what they think. (é isso que eles pensam).


Abed: Yes, that Shiites are not Muslims, that they worship the Imam Ali and do not accept Muhammad. (sim, que xiitas não são muçulmanos, que eles adoram o Imam Ali e que não aceitam Maomé)


O conflito entre sunitas e xiitas surgiu algumas décadas depois da morte de Maomé. E continua a ser alimentado por vários líderes muçulmanos. Engana-se quem pensa que a mera retirada dos cruzados do Iraque irá resolver o problema da insurgência. A questão é muito mais profunda e complexa.
